On September 19, 1999, the CHRVA Board of Directors and other key leaders in the adult and juniors programs met for an entire day of strategic planning on the direction of our volleyball programs. The objective was to identify and define short and long term goals and to improve the services offered to our membership. My sincerest thanks to those who spent a very long but productive day planning for the future!

An implementation committee will be established to move forward with the strategic planning. The following individuals have already agreed to participate – Fran Duvall, Eugene Yee, Jake Barkdoll and Steve Burinksy. I would also like a player representative from the Adult Division; a representative from the Officials Division; and an additional representative from the Juniors Division. If you are interested in being on this committee, please call or email me at Karolvball@aol.com.

The following is a compilation of ideas from the September meeting. This plan is still in the preliminary stages and we will be working on defining each of these goals throughout this coming year. As always, feedback from the membership is of the utmost importance. You can assist us by sending your ideas, thoughts, and suggestions to any member of the Strategic Planning Implementation Committee, or to any member of the CHRVA Staff or Board. Contact information is listed on the back of this issue.

We have identified and categorized our ideas into 8 major areas. Within each area, the ideas have been listed in order of importance as defined during the initial Strategic Planning Meeting in September. Several ideas may seem redundant or incomplete, but this is our initial draft. Nothing is written in stone and this will be an on-going improvement process based on your feedback. My purpose for sharing these ideas with you in such a rough form is to get you thinking, get you motivated, and and solicit your feedback.
