| We need your feedback!
This issue includes a survey that asks for
your input on several important topics under discussion by the Board.
One of the key issues is how to distribute teams among the various competitive
levels (AA, A, BB, B) to provide the maximum number of opportunities for
teams to play exciting volleyball during the season. The Board knows
there are a number of diverse opinions on this and other topics, but they
need your input to know which opinion is most widely held. It should
take less than 10 minutes to send us your views, so look for the questionnaire
and share your opinion! CHRVA wants to provide the best possible
playing opportunities for all its members.
The Handbook…yes, it’s coming.
The Board worked very hard this Fall to rewrite
many sections of the CHRVA Handbook that required important changes or
were not as clear as they could be. It has been a difficult, time-consuming,
but necessary process. Please bear with us. Your 2002-2003
version has been sent to the publisher for an entire reprint. We
took the bull by the horns and hashed out issues that had long simmered
as potential problems. Our job is never done as each year brings
new twists and changes, but everyone worked diligently on this particular
effort, and we think you will notice a significant improvement. Team
Reps, as soon as the hard copy version is printed, the Registrar will ensure
you have a copy. The Webmaster will also post the Handbook online.
Where’s my Digs?
If you’re experiencing some delay in receiving
your quarterly Digs newsletter, or you simply never get it, there are a
couple of things you can do to determine why. First, verify with
the Registrar that your correct mailing address is on file in the computer
database. The Registrar will use whatever address you’ve supplied
on your most recently submitted USAV Individual Membership Form.
If you’ve moved and indicated that fact on the form, the Registrar will
update your file. (Please note: while the membership database
maintained by the Registrar is separate from the databases maintained by
the Scorekeeper and Referee Chairs, the Registrar ensures that a copy of
her database is provided to them.)
Second, if you are sporadically receiving your
Digs, the problem may actually be located at your local Post Office.
Much as we would like to have some influence, CHRVA really can’t control
the delivery practices of the local postal services. Check to make
sure that your Post Office is delivering all bulk mail to your mailing
address. Ask if there have been any recurring problems with mail
originating from Largo, Maryland where our newsletter is published and
from where the entire shipment is first sent out.
Hopefully, by checking these two avenues, you
can solve any problems you may be experiencing. For your information,
if you haven’t received a recent issue, and you like the portability of
the hard copy version, the publisher usually (but not always) sends CHRVA
the “overages” or extra copies printed. Please feel free to contact
me or Commissioner Anne Hughes (commissioner@chrva.org)
if you would like to obtain a hard copy.
Remember that you can always access the Digs
online at http://www.chrva.org/digsindx.html.
The Webmaster has posted issues going back to 1996. They are presented
to you in two different formats: HTML and PDF. The HTML version
is formatted for online viewing so it looks somewhat different from the
hard copy version. The PDF version may take a while to download,
but it looks exactly like the hard copy version. Accessing either
is usually the fastest way to get a copy of the most recent Digs. |
