Many thanks to everyone who helped get this
season’s scorekeepers certified and re-certified. If you have finished
your certification or recertification requirements, you have received confirmation
in the mail - usually your corrected test and a certification card. A couple
of folks did not receive cards, as the unexpectedly large number of candidates
depleted the supply, but those who did not get an actual card did get a
note confirming their status. If you have not heard anything, and/or
do not have WRITTEN confirmation of your certification, you should
not assume that you are certified. Instead, before keeping score or serving
as a first referee, contact me (or Dixie Collins for re-certs) and be sure
we have received your test, ratings, etc. Dixie can be reached at

We have a scoresheet review process in effect
this season. The purpose of this process is to offer help to those who
may need reminders on proper procedures, and to verify the certification
of the scorekeepers. The region’s penalties for using uncertified people
are quite stiff. They are listed in the region handbook. Be forewarned!!

The purpose of reviewing scoresheets is to:

identify basic technique errors and try to catch disasters in the making
before they cost a team a close game.

identify teams utilizing non-certified scorekeepers and/or referees.
Volunteers Wanted
Any scorekeepers interested in volunteering
time as a scorekeeper at Regionals, please contact me. This is a VERY good
thing to do if you are interested in being considered for National Scorekeeper
in the future. I need to hear from all volunteers by March 28 in order
to make up the master schedule. We had a number of great volunteers at
Regionals last year, and we received favorable comments from players and
officials who participated on those courts.
