Communications
within the Chesapeake Region has been greatly improved by the ongoing expansion
and support of the CHRVA Website. Although it has existed for several years,
aggressive development of the site began approximately one year ago. I
am happy to report that the website project has thus far been an overwhelming
success. Email communications from CHRVA members as well as from others
with a general interest in volleyball have been very positive. Members
have provided us with good suggestions for improvement and many of the
suggestions have already been implemented. On October 13, 1998, we added
a hit counter to the main page of the website. As of February 8, 1999,
the main page has been accessed 7290 times. This figure does not take into
account any direct hits to the other web pages on the site.
Having exhausted the resources available to
us under our present server contract, we have moved the website to a much
more capable internet server. In addition, we have secured the domain name
“chrva.org” for our organization. The CHRVA Home Page is now located at
HTTP://www.chrva.org/index.html.
Many of the pages on the old site have been set up to automatically redirect
users to the new site. The old server will remain online at least through
February to allow users time to reset their bookmarks. The following index
lists some of the information currently available on the CHRVA Website.
It is not an all-inclusive list but does indicate the variety of available
information.
