The 2000-2001 season is over for the
Chesapeake Region, and now we can look forward to Nationals, beach volleyball,
sun, and fun. My congratulations to all the 2001 Regional Champions, both
juniors and adults, and to all the hundreds of volunteers that helped to
make this season enjoyable for everyone.
Preparations are already underway for next
season, and I know that all of you will be overjoyed to find out that a
new Region Handbook will be in the hands of every Team Representative at
the start of the new season. A tremendous amount of time and energy has
been spent putting this together; and, on behalf of the Region, I would
like to thank Jeff Maynard and Diane Abood for bringing this to fruition.
Now for a fond farewell to the ultimate volunteer
Sue Wainio-Oato. Sue, Guy, and Emily are moving to Florida and will be
sorely missed. Sue has been working for the Chesapeake Region as long as
I have known her. She has been President of the National Capital Area Board
of Officials, President of the Chesapeake Board of Directors, Regional
Referee, Player, and Tournament Director for the Slime Devils Volleyball
Club, USA National Scorekeeper, Scorekeeper Chair, and last but not least
a wonderful friend. We wish you and your family the best of luck and look
forward to the day when you come back to the Region. We will miss you!
