Two main issues have kept me tremendously
busy over the last several months: following up on the initiative to solicit
ideas for a possible new logo and, more importantly, finalizing work on
the 2001-2002 official CHRVA Handbook due to be in your Team Representative’s
hands THIS FALL! Honestly, I have to admit working on the logo project
was a lot more fun!
THE LOGO ISSUE
As I mentioned way back in the December Digs,
one of the first items to find its way across my desk as new Communications
Chair was to explore the possibility of changing or updating the CHRVA
logo. Since several Board members were interested in the idea, we decided
to launch an effort to get the general membership more involved in the
process by way of a logo contest. Amazingly, after extending the deadline,
I received more logo proposals than I had originally anticipated. Not only
that, our effort to solicit new ideas prompted those members who really
liked the old logo to search for a nice version of that one as well.
Given the numerous proposals submitted, the
Board decided to narrow the field down to three new ideas plus the original
logo. The Board wishes to seek membership input on these four logos before
making its final decision. Bear in mind the logos presented here in the
Digs are drafts in black and white. The resolution may not be quite as
good as in other media. I hope to have the Website Administrator post all
four logos in full color on the website so you can more easily vote for
your preference. Please help us select the logo which you think will best
represent the Chesapeake Region. Until the Website Administrator is able
to post the proposals and establish an online voting procedure, please
feel free to email me your preference. I will keep a running hard copy
tally of all email responses. Send to diane.abood@chrva.org.

THE 2001-2002 HANDBOOK:
YOUR OFFICIAL CHRVA GUIDE
The most important issue I hope to have finally
tackled is getting the 2001-2002 CHRVA Handbook into your hands by the
start of the new season. While the new Handbook is coming out later than
I had hoped or even anticipated, the bulk of all the hard work is done.
Whew.
Many many thanks to Jeff Maynard for working
so tirelessly, and under difficult personal circumstances, on the numbing
number of electronic files that had to be changed, updated, deciphered,
and manipulated for final Board approval. The Board meeting to end all
Board meetings (at least in my brief experience) ended with a sense of
accomplishment in that I have final approval to go to the publisher with
the latest edition of our last printed version of the Handbook, which was
published way back in 1997-1998. Always keep in mind, however, that approved
changes to the Handbook issued after the 1997-1998 season can always be
found electronically on our website.
THE WEBSITE
Thanks for the tremendous response to our
online vote concerning website navigation. Given the results, we will definitely
pursue changing our approach to presenting information. Be prepared for
a fresh new look in the future. Our ultimate goal is to ensure the membership
can easily find, read, understand, and retain important online information.
Please continue to provide feedback to the Website Administrator at webmaster@chrva.org
and be sure to copy me as well. |
