Chesapeake Region
2002 Regional Championships - Results
Rod Anderson, Vice President - rod.anderson@chrva.org
On the first three weekends in April, 217 teams vied for the top spot in 22 divisions on 52 courts.  Trophies were awarded for first and second place in each division.  The adults had an added incentive in vying for a spot on the six-person all-tournament team.  Each all-tournament team had a Most Valuable Player.  These players were selected by their peers as the best of the best!  Also recognized were the Season Point Champions from each adult division.  Congratulations to all!

Most of the competitions were held at the Discovery Sports Center in Boyds, Maryland.  The two gyms at Gallaudet University in Washington, D.C. and one gym in Fairfax, Virginia were also used.  The courts were all quality facilities.

The CHRVA Championships are the centerpiece of the Region’s program each year.  Thanks to all the players and supporters for making this year’s Championships a success!  Thanks also to our volunteer tournament staff, specifically Harry and Dixie Collins, George Hayne, Steve Burinsky, JoBeth Killough, Karol Shadle, Lisa DiGiacinto, Eugene Yee, Jake and Linda Barkdoll, Skip Slawson, Diane Abood, Jill Pflug, Arlene Geppi, Wanda Hsiung, Sandy Withers, and Phyllis Coleman.  Everything ran smoothly thanks to all of you!  Special thanks to Joe Spellman for his assistance.  Hopefully, I haven’t missed anyone.  My sincerest apologies if I have.

Again, congratulations to all the winners!

Pictures and detailed results will be posted on the Region’s website at http://www.chrva.org/rgsched.html.  A summary of the results follows.  Scroll down the page or use the links.
