2002 Board of Director Elections
In the recently completed 2002 Board of
Directors election, the following individuals were voted to serve a two-year
term: Diane Abood, Rod Anderson, Jake Barkdoll, Wanda Hsiung, JoBeth
Killough, Amanda Moran, and Skip Slawson. Congratulations to all.
In the first ever CHRVA mail-in election, a total of 129 members voted.
I’d like to thank Jake Barkdoll and Steve Burinsky for working out the
details of the election. We hope to improve upon the process for
next year and, as such, we would like your comments. If you have
any comments/suggestions or concerns, please email Steve Burinsky at steve.burinsky@chrva.org.
Member Participation in Regional Committees
This is also the time of the year that Committee and Staff appointments
are made. Some of the committees operating in the Region include
the following: Appeals, Eligibility, Nominations and Elections, Communications,
Finance, and Personnel. While the membership on some of these committees
is limited to Board members, not all are. One of my goals this year
will be to identify individuals within the membership who have the time
and expertise to get involved in the operation of the association.
I am also interested in identifying individuals who might want to be involved
in any of the staff operations such as the Juniors program, outreach, and
tournament committees. Believe me, there is plenty of work to go
around. If you are interested or would like to know more, please
email me at president@chrva.org.
D.C. Special Olympics
One last note—my sincerest thanks to all those who volunteered their
time and support for the D.C. Special Olympics. Because of
you, the volleyball athletes were provided with a professional and memorable
experience. I can’t tell you how much I personally appreciate your
help, and I hope that you found the event as rewarding as the athletes
did. A special thanks to JoBeth Killough who organized all of the
volunteers. I am forever grateful.
