| USAV certified officials are needed for the upcoming 2003-2004
high school and middle school season, particularly since USAV-type rules,
such as rally scoring, the let serve, and the Libero, will be adopted in
high school volleyball. Matches are available for assignment in Montgomery
and Prince George’s Counties and the Washington D.C. area.
There are excellent part-time wages, from $41 to $100+ per assignment
and flexible, non-demanding schedules. You can officiate weekday
afternoons, evenings, and weekend tournaments.
REQUIREMENTS. Experienced Regional or Provisional officials
are preferred, but I will consider all candidates with knowledge of volleyball
rules (USAV, NCAA, or Federation). Players and coaches are welcome.
18 years of age minimum.
CERTIFICATIONS. MPSSAA certification is required to work
public high schools (also advisable for private school work). Clinics
are planned for July. A certification exam and rules interpretation
meeting will be conducted August 13, 2003 at Blake High School, Sandy Spring,
Maryland and in other Maryland counties during the month of August.
Annual dues of $41 covers rule books, clinics, exams, and liability coverage.
Uniforms must be purchased separately.
