We had just finished a best of three match against a “20 something” team at the Volleyball House, when one member of the opposing team said, “How old are you guys, anyway?  I hope that I’m looking at the green side of the sod when I get to be your age.”  So we gathered up our oxygen tanks and walkers and hobbled out to the parking lot to wait for the “Assisted Living” bus to pick us up.

A lot of people think that it’s time to “hang it up” when you pass 50 years old.  Not so.  You have more time, money, and patience to direct at playing the game better.  There are National events such as the Senior Olympics, the USAV Nationals, and the Huntsmans Games that are great places to ply your talents.  We are committed to providing venues in the Mid-Atlantic area for Age Specific play and tournaments to help prepare you for the national events.

If there are any players in the Chesapeake Region who are 45 and older looking for some competition this fall and winter, please email me your contact information.  We are planning at least two tournaments (more if the interest is there) beginning in October 2003.  They will be inexpensive (less than $100), local to the Baltimore-Washington area, and time-friendly (no 10-12 hour marathons).

     Hope to hear from you!
