Hello. My name is Eugene Yee, and I’m the new President of the Board
of Directors for the Chesapeake Region. I hope I can adequately fill
the shoes of our just retired President Karol Shadle and serve the Region
as well as she did. I’ve been playing volleyball in the Region over
15 years and so have probably met many of you already (those I haven’t
should consider yourselves lucky).
As we prepare for the upcoming 2003-2004 playing season, there are a
few changes in the works. The biggest one (at least for the adults)
is a change in the structure of our playing divisions. We will be
starting the season with just two divisions, A/AA and B/BB. Halfway
through the season, we will split them out into the normal four (4) divisions.
See the article in the Digs for complete details. We hope this new
format will help solve our problem of declining enrollment in some divisions
and promote more play for all.
Also, we’ve done some tweaking of our Half-Day Tournament format, making
them four-team pools instead of three-team pools whenever possible.
The feedback we had received on this format indicated that teams wanted
to make sure that everyone got a break sometime during their round-robin
play. The new format will solve that problem. Again, please
look for the article in this issue regarding the new Half-Day format.
I would encourage everyone to read the Digs and to check the CHRVA websites
periodically to keep up-to-date on changes going on within the Region.
We are doing our best to communicate with the membership as much as possible,
and the Digs and the websites are the best way for us to get information
out quickly.
Good luck this season! |
