Error in the Hardcopy Version of the September Digs

The Clinic Decision Chart on page 9 of the September Digs (hardcopy version) was printed from a draft copy and contains errors.  The chart below contains accurate information and should simplify the clinic decision process.  We are sorry for any confusion this may have caused.

Helpful Hints !!

ALL scorekeepers whose certification expires in 1999 must attend a clinic this year. You will be taught the new scoring system. The clinic you should attend is marked with a “yes” in the chart above, however, you may attend the clinic marked with a "*" if this is more convenient for you. If you are also a referee, beware of conflicting times! You are responsible for setting your own schedule.

If your scorekeeper certification expires in 2000, you MAY attend a clinic this year, either an am or pm session.  If you attend the clinic, you will be taught the new scoring system. If you do not attend the clinic this year, you must keep score using the old system this year, and attend a clinic next year.  Here are some helpful hints when preparing to attend a clinic:
  1. Arrive early! Registration is at 7:30 am.

  2.
  3. Be prepared to pay your USAV registration and clinic fee. Your USAV registration is $35.002 for adults, $30.002 for Juniors.  The clinic fee is $15.002 for the New Scorekeepers Clinic, and $10.002 for the New Referees Clinic.  There is no fee for either referee or scorekeeper recert clinics.  Recerts are still responsible for paying their registration fee of $35.002.  Cash and checks are accepted (checks are made payable to USVBA -CHRVA).

  4. 2Fee structure subject to change pending an upcoming board meeting.

  5. Be prepared to provide insurance information - this must be completed as part of your USAV registration.

  6.
  7. If you plan to attend both a morning and afternoon session, it is advisable to bring your own lunch. There may not be enough time to go out and buy lunch between sessions.

  8.
  9. Be informed! Check out the various web sites, or get a rule book or other clinic materials from previous years and read over the information. You will be asked to absorb an enormous amount of information in a few short hours.  The more familiar the information is to you, the easier you will be able to remember it.
