Call for Nominations Board members are avid volleyball players, coaches, scorekeepers, officials, and fans who believe that volleyball is a great “whole life” sport that should be available to players of all levels of ability across the region. Board members participate in policy discussions and decision-making processes concerning the Region’s programs and activities by attending approximately four Board meetings per year. Board members get many opportunities to discuss issues from all sorts of perspectives, whether they be related to the Juniors Community, the regular Adult Community, or our growing Seniors Community. The Chesapeake Region could use your help in defining and balancing the important needs of such a diverse group. Participation in the Board’s activities is a great way to contribute to and improve our Region for all. Just a little initiative goes a long way. Board members are encouraged to help shape policy, tackle new projects, and make new proposals. If you know someone that you believe would make a good Board member or if you think you would like to help promote and support volleyball by becoming a Board member yourself, please send a note to Eugene Yee, CHRVA’s Nominations and Elections Chair at eugene.yee@chrva.org or 7027 Dasher Farm Court, Columbia, Maryland 21045. Your note should include the name of the person you are nominating (or your name if you are nominating yourself); all pertinent contact information such as mailing address, email address, and phone numbers; and a few sentences about the nominee’s interest in volleyball. It might also include a summary of experience as a player, coach, scorekeeper, official, or fan, and a few words about how the nominee would contribute to the sport in the Chesapeake region. Pictures will be accepted and can be posted, along with the note, on the CHRVA website. If you have any questions about Board activities, please do not hesitate to contact Eugene or any other Board member. You will find additional email addresses and phone numbers for present Board members listed on the last page of this copy of the Digs. The Region needs and wants your dedicated participation and input! Nominations are due by FEBRUARY 15, 2002. |
