The Junior’s Community had their Fall meeting
on November 4, 2001 at Glen Burnie High School. We had a very strong turnout
representing teams throughout the region. Commissioner Anne Hughes and
President Karol Shadle were both in attendance.
Larry Liden was there to discuss scorekeeper
and referee clinics for the upcoming season. No clinic dates were decided
so everyone needs to keep checking the Juniors Website for updates and
information on clinic scheduling. Charles Ezigbo, the Ethics and Eligibility
Chair, went over the Coaches Code of Conduct and explained that every coach
is held accountable to the standards set forth in that document. Information
on IMPACT clinics for new coaches will be posted on the website so please
check the site often. All new coaches must be IMPACT certified to sit on
the bench.
The Chesapeake Challenge is a go again this
year. There will be several seeding dates and three play dates with a championship.
Even age groups will be used again this year. Information will be posted
on the website in early December.
If you want to host a tournament, the sanction
forms need to be sent to me at least six weeks prior to the tournament
date. The first wave of sanctions has been completed, and tournaments should
start appearing on the webpage in early December. If you have a Historical
Date Priority (HDP), I need the sanction forms as soon as possible.
The juniors will be going to a uniformed seeding
index. I would like to thank Joe Spellman for devising this system and
for monitoring it the first year. The seeding index will only count matches
against region teams.
Finally, we have a new 17/18’s Age Group Coordinator,
Amanda Moran. I would like to thank all of you who stepped up and
volunteered. Amanda has experience working on a National Qualifier and
participating on the Board of Directors in the Pioneer Region. Welcome
aboard.
