Thank you Sue Wainio-Oato for helping make
this transition as smooth as possible. All of your help the past few months
was tremendous in getting me up-to-speed. The program would have been lost
without you, and we will certainly miss your presence.
For those members close to the Scorekeeper
Program and the Officials Division, we have been devastated by the loss
of Jo Ann Peters. A special fund has been set up for her nephew, and donations
are being accepted. Please contact me if you have any questions. The address
is listed on page 10 in this edition of the Digs.
The certification process is underway, and
everyone involved in certifying scorekeepers is buried in paperwork. My
mailbox is stuffed with test corrections. To all of you wondering if your
certification or recertification is complete:
Please be patient. We are trying to get everything
done before January. If you have finished your certification requirements,
you WILL receive confirmation in the mail. I will send an updated list
for posting on the web when I have a complete list. If you have not spoken
to a Recertification Assistant or me, do not assume anything. CONTACT me
and be sure you are certified. We are trying to let people know before
January. Look at the website sometime in late December. I will have the
list updated by then.
I would like to thank everyone who provided
assistance during the clinic and fellowship season. The clinics went well,
and I wish to extend my thanks to Kelli Auletta, Julie Briggs, Dixie Collins,
Les Deason, Larry Liden, and Debbie Reed. I also want to thank all our
Head Raters, Kellie Auletta, Amy Unger, Debbie Reed, Kevin Ludlum, and
Mark Nash, as well as all the raters who have taken time from their weekends
to help get everyone rated. A special thank you goes to Kelli for organizing
all of the fellowships and getting the facilities. In addition, when you
Regional Scorekeepers see Jan Bowser and Amy Ritter, please thank them
for keeping your information straight. Without them, I would be completely
buried right now. For those who have helped, and I have forgotten to mention,
thank you because sometimes Les is more.
When all of this is over, the Fellowship Committee
will be reviewing our current policies and procedures. If you have comments
or concerns, please let me know. Every comment is welcome.
The Juniors season is coming upon us; and,
if you have any time to help out, please let me know. Many people have
already stepped forward, but more help will be greatly appreciated. Clinics
held for Juniors are for those who wish to keep score at Juniors tournaments
ONLY. The Juniors certification does NOT QUALIFY a person to score an adult
event.
If your address has changed, please LET ME
KNOW as soon as possible. If we have to mail you something now or in the
future, you will not get it. If you do not receive a card this year and
have gone through the recertification process, please let me know.
Once the sanctioned tournaments are underway,
there are stiff penalties for teams using non-certified scorekeepers. Every
team is provided an alternative (payment of $8.00 per work match, either
included in the entry fee or at tournament check-in) if it cannot supply
a certified scorekeeper. There is NO excuse. Be forewarned, the Review
Committee will be looking for violators.
RECERTIFYING REGIONAL SCOREKEEPERS
You must download the exam from the website,
complete it on the paper (there is no answer sheet this year), and send
it to the either Jan Bowser or Amy Ritter. You do not have to do any recertification
matches this year.
If anyone has any questions about scorekeeping
or wants to volunteer, please let me know. Once again, I would like to
thank everyone so far in helping me during the current transition. Good
luck and have a great season. ?
