| There were four
scorekeeper clinics held during October at Frederick Community College,
Frederick, Maryland; University of Maryland, College Park; Victory Villa,
Middle River, Maryland; and George Mason University, Fairfax, Virginia.
Thanks to the folks who arranged for us to use these facilities.
Thanks also to my clinicians, Debbie Reed, Kelli Auletta, Diane Abood,
Jan Bowser, Sherry Morgan, and Corny Galdones. They were most helpful
by being there on the days I could not.
The rating fellowships are currently being
conducted in November. When this process is finished, I will be able
to issue cards to the new scorekeepers and publish a list of all certified
scorekeepers. Recerts must have their tests completed and in by December
1, 2002. The Recert Assistants, Jan Bowser (A-M) and
Amy Ritter(N-Z) have consented to fill this role again this year
and will be grading tests and sending out cards to scorekeepers that get
their tests in. This includes provisional scorekeepers upgrading
to regional who should have attended a scorekeeper recert clinic.
The last one is December 10 at the Fairfax Government Center, Herrity Building.
There will be about six “junior only” certification
clinics held in December and January. I am currently looking for
clinicians to help with these.
The Scoresheet
Review Committee is anxious to help out again this year. Tournament
hosts need to be diligent in sending in the scoresheets immediately
after the tournament to these people so we can review and improve all the
scorekeeping within the region. Contact information for the committee
members can be found at http://www.chrva.org/Contact_info/score_rev_comm.html.
I would also like all tournament hosts to visit
the Forms Archive on the CHRVA website (http://www.chrva.org/Forms/forms_archive.html)
to secure the most up-to-date scoresheets, line-up sheets, and libero tracking
sheets. We need to freshen up some of the ones I saw being circulated
last year. Thanks.
As always, I am looking for a few good scorekeepers
who want to give to the Region above and beyond the basics to be considered
as National Scorekeeper Candidates this year in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
