I’m sure everyone is excited to be playing or getting ready to play this
new year. As you know, we’re implementing our new format of tournaments
for Adults, starting with the AA/A and BB/B divisions and splitting those
two divisions into four divisions come February. Like lots of new
ideas, this format shows promise, but we may encounter some unanticipated
bumps along the way. Since this is new territory for all of us, I’m
asking that everyone bear with us as we work through whatever problems
crop up. We plan on going through the 2003-2004 season using the
new format and will evaluate everything, good and bad, at the end of the
playing season. With any new system, there are probably going to
be some rough edges to be ironed out, but we believe the new system will
help alleviate the chronic problems we’ve been experiencing with the uneven
distribution of teams in the playing divisions. The goal of this
new format is to provide all of our adult members the best opportunity
to have an enjoyable playing experience in the Region.
We’re also getting our new online registration system up and running
this year. There may be some kinks in the system initially, but,
again, I’m asking everyone to bear with us as we work them out. Our
hope is that an online registration system will not only make the Registrar’s
job easier and more efficient, it will make the registration process easier
and more accessible for our members. Although results may not be
visible at first, we’re confident that an online system will be better
for everyone in the long run.
Lastly, although it’s early in the season, it’s not too early to think
about next year. If you’re interested in running for the CHRVA Board
of Directors, please submit your nomination to our Nominations and Elections
Chair Jake Barkdoll. Take a look at the CHRVA website for more information
about the process, or contact Jake at jake.barkdoll@chrva.org or 301-987-8596.
Keep up-to-date on what’s going on within the Region by checking the
website often. There’s a wealth of information there, including tournament
schedules, contact information, and lots of other stuff.
Good luck to everyone! |
