2003-2004 season is upon us. The Chesapeake Region Officials Division
has hosted four all day clinics, providing scorekeeper and referee
candidate clinics and recertification clinics. There have been or
will be three additional evening recert only clinics.

October 11, 2003: Frederick, Maryland: 15 candidates,
15 recertifications
October 14, 2003: Fairfax, Virginia: 6 recertifications
October 19, 2003: College Park, Maryland: 34 candidates, 15 recertifications
October 25, 2003: Middle River, Maryland: 12 candidates, 8 recertifications
October 26, 2003: Fairfax, Virginia: 52 candidates, 7 recertifications
November 5, 2003: Fairfax, Virginia: 12 recertifications
December 6, 2003: Fairfax, Virginia
Total: 113 candidates, 63 recertifications

They are Kelli Auletta, Larry Liden, Kevin Ludlum, Jan Bowser, Debbie Reed,
Scott Master, Julie Briggs, Corny Galdones, and Tom O’Connor. Also,
thanks go to Greg Barber who stepped in to help me grade tests at the Fairfax
clinic. I owe a special thanks to Arlene Geppi who has secured at
least eight sites for the hosting of Junior clinics.
We are going to be instituting a new certification
process for Junior scorekeepers. See the article which follows.
The goal is to improve the efficiency of our scorekeepers so that all matches
run as smoothly as possible.
