Help Others Enjoy Volleyball As Much As You Do!

     If you are interested in helping volleyball grow in the Chesapeake Region, you should definitely consider becoming a Board member.  All that’s required is a positive attitude and a willingness to work for your favorite sport.  Early next year, players, coaches, officials, and all members of the Region will elect new members to the CHRVA Board of Directors.  Board members are involved in a variety of activities to support and promote volleyball—not only at the local level but also at the National and International levels as well.  Many Board members have special interests in junior, adult, and/or senior play or officiating; but, in the end, they work together to make volleyball a very positive “whole-life” experience for all.

     So, if you believe volleyball is a great sport, and you’d like to add your experience, opinions, and expertise to discussions at four board meetings held each year, nominate yourself by sending me an email at jake.barkdoll@chrva.org or drop me a note at;

     Or, if you know someone whom you think would make a valuable contribution as a Board member, notify me with his or her name and contact information, and I’ll follow up from there.

     The official deadline for nominations is March 1, 2004, but please don’t wait until then to make your interest known.  The schedule for preparing official ballots and other election related activities is very tight, so we need to get an early start.

     If you think you might be interested but have some questions, doubts, or concerns, please contact any of the current Board members.  They will be glad to tell you about their experiences on the Board.  Their names, phone numbers, and email addresses appear on the back cover of the DIGS newsletter.  Board membership is just one more way to enjoy your favorite sport.
