Additional Explanation Regarding Which Clinics
to Attend for New or Recertifying Officials
The following is based on information obtained from Charles Ezigbo,
the webmaster for the Officials'
Website. Thanks Charles.
The clinics are for those who are either certifying for the first time
or recertifying to be a referee or scorekeeper in the Chesapeake
Region for USAV volleyball competitions. There is no pre-registration
form required to attend a clinic. See the Helpful
Hints for registration requirements. Clinics are being offered
in two distinct formats: weekend daytime clinics (lasting 8 1/2
hours) and weekday evening clinics (lasting 3 hours).
The "weekday evening clinics" are ONLY for recertifying
referees and scorekeepers. If you are a new scorekeeper or referee,
you must attend a "weekend daytime clinic". The Clinic
Decision Chart will help you to determine which part(s) of the clinics
you must attend depending on your current status as a referee and/or scorekeeper.
Note that only the rightmost column in the chart (i.e. the one with column
heading "Weeknight Evening Recert") refers to the 3-hour weekday
evening clinics. These clinics begin at 7:00pm for recertifying referees
and scorekeepers. The other four columns in the chart indicate when
the various certification and recertification activities will occur during
the 8 1/2-hour weekend daytime clinics.
At the clinics, you will get theoretical instruction. You will
take a test and then be required to follow up the process with practical
experience as you obtain ratings at pre-season tournaments (fellowships).
Please direct all Referee Clinic questions to the Referee Chair (referee.chair@chrva.org)
and all Scorekeeper Clinic questions to the Scorekeeper Chair (scorekeeper.chair@chrva.org).
