U.S. MEN'S NATIONAL TEAM UPDATE

As the weather gets warmer, the U.S. Men's National Volleyball Team is preparing for its return to action. Obviously, 2007 will be a key year for the team as it begins the process of qualifying for the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing, China. U.S. players are doing well overseas. And there will be some familiar faces will be back in the gym this spring as the team gears up for the FIVB World League, NORCECA Championships and FIVB World Cup. U.S. WOMEN'S VOLLEYBALL TEAM INVITES FIVE COLLEGIANS

		USA Volleyball is pleased to announce five collegiate players selected to participate in the U.S. Women's National Volleyball Team program this summer based on two open tryouts conducted in Omaha (Dec. 16-17, 2006) and Colorado Springs (Feb. 23-25). The selectees include Stanford University's Foluke Akinradewo and Cynthia Barboza, University of Nebraska's Tracy Stalls and Jordan Larson, and University of Florida's Marcie Hampton. USAV Junior Beach Tour, International Selection Camp

Junior beach volleyball players, get ready: USA Volleyball, in conjunction with the Elevation Group, wants you to get out of the gym and onto the beach. KNIPE NAMED U.S. MEN'S WORLD UNIVERSITY GAMES COACH

		USA Volleyball named Long Beach State University Men's Volleyball Head Coach Alan Knipe as its head coach for the World University Games, which will be held Aug. 8-18 in Bangkok, Thailand. It will be Knipe's second trip to the World University Games. In 1991, he traveled to Sheffield, England as a player; where the U.S. team won the silver medal. Poland took the gold that year. MOLTEN FIELD SET, SEEDINGS ANNOUNCED APRIL 9

Carthage College earned the Midwest/West Region berth into the Molten Division III Men's Invitational Volleyball Championship hosted by three-time defending champion Juniata College April 13-14 at Huntingdon, Pa. Stevens Institute of Technology, the NECVA Tournament champion, and Springfield College round out the four-team field. Now in its 11th year, the Molten Division III Men's Invitational Volleyball Championship was formed due to a need for a culminating event for NCAA Division III men's volleyball as no teams from the division have ever earned berths in the all-division NCAA National Collegiate Men's Volleyball Championship. USA CAP LEVEL III COURSES PART OF USOC EVENT

Several volleyball coaches received a unique opportunity to participate in a Coaching Accreditation Program (CAP) Level III session in conjunction with the USOC Performance Services' Training Design Symposium for Elite/Emerging Elite Coaches on April 4-6 at the U.S. Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs. The event was hosted by the U.S. Olympic Committee's Performance Services Division. Overall, the symposium attracted more than 85 elite and emerging elite coaches, including 12 in the volleyball-specific CAP Level III courses. Among the universal topics for all participants included insights on such topics as preparation, pre-competition training, recovery, over-training, strength training, psychological training and nutrition. COACH EDUCATION SCHEDULE
Register NOW for the June 1-3 IMPACT and CAP Level I & II courses in Parma, Ohio! Early Bird prices good through May 4, 2007! Just announced! Dates for the CAP I and II in Minneapolis during the USA Junior Olympic Girls' Championships: CAP I on June 28-30, and CAP II on July 1-3, with additional Modules opportunities in the morning of July 4th. IMPACT Clinics will be offered from 1-5 pm on June 28, 29, 30, July 2, 3, 4. Registration links will be open soon - check the CAP Course Schedule page for more information. A CAP Level I course will be offered at the Boy's Junior Championships in Atlanta on July 3-5, with IMPACT Clinics scheduled for July 3 and 7 from 1-5 pm. A Modules-Only Clinic will be scheduled in conjunction with the Girl's invitational Tournament in Atlanta, (June 7-10) with exact course dates yet to be determined. A CAP Level I course will be offered July 20-21 in Ft.Lauderdale in conjunction with the USAV Junior High Performance Championships. A CAP Level I Core course will be taught in conjunction with a 2-day VCAP Conditioning clinic in Dallas, TX on July 26-28 at the Robert Brown Sports Performance facility. CAP I students may take the Core day followed by the 2-day VCAP Clinic to earn a complete CAP I certification, or may just take the Core day only. NAMES AND NOTES

Joe Sharpless and Daniel Leake, co-technical delegates for volleyball in the 2007 Special Olympic World Summer Games, announced the selection of six USA Volleyball personnel for responsibilities with this October's Games in Shanghai, China. Joe Campbell, Corney Galdones, Rick Laskey and Bob Stanek were selected as officials. Debbie Reed will serve as head scorekeeper, while Nancy Sommer will serve as head referee. Click here for more information...Allison Weston, captain of the 2000 U.S. Olympic Women's Volleyball Team, was inducted into the Nebraska High School Sports Hall of Fame. She was a Nebraska All-State selection in three sports (volleyball, basketball and soccer) at Papillion La Vista High School...Girls' volleyball in the state of Michigan will move from the winter to fall season after the United States Supreme Court denied a certiorari request by the Michigan High School Athletic Association in its sports seasons litigation. Hence, MHSAA will abide by lower court rulings to change seasons for several sports. Michigan was the last state to offer girls' volleyball outside of the now traditional fall season...The 2007 National Senior Games is seeking officials and volunteers for the event scheduled July 2-7 at Louisville, Ky. For details, click here...The NAIA Men's National Tournament has selected and seeded its six-team field set for competition April 12-14 at Riverside, Calif. California Baptist is the host and top seed, followed by Park, Lindenwood, Missouri Baptist, Missouri Valley and St. Ambrose. For further information, click here...Men's volleyball will start competing as an intercollegiate varsity sport in the spring 2008 semester at St. Andrews Presbyterian College, announced Howard Reichner, athletic director.
