defined by four intervals: the Fellowship Season, the Regular Season, the
Post Season, and, the Junior Volleyball Season. The first three are
associated with the Adult Program and the last is associated with the Juniors

The Regular Season begins the first full weekend (Saturday and Sunday) in December and continues until the beginning of Post-Season play. The Post Season begins approximately the second full (non-holiday) weekend (Saturday and Sunday) in April and continues until Post-Season play has concluded. The Junior Volleyball Season begins in January and ends at the conclusion of Junior Nationals. |

Please refer to the current season's registration fee structure, which can be found under the "Registration Information" link in the "Pre-Season" section of the CHRVA Main Page. Please make checks payable to CHRVA. A "Team Member Addition Form" must be submitted to the CHRVA Registrar, by your Team Representative, along with the appropriate payment. FAQ Date: 11/10/2006 |
What if I registered with a team, and I no longer want to play with that team? If you have not played with the team in a regular season tournament, you may submit a written request to the Registrar (registrar@chrva.org) that your name be removed from the roster. If you want to add your name to another team’s roster, your new Team Rep must submit a Player Addition Form. If you have played with the team in a regular season tournament, you are committed to that team, and you cannot move from one team to another except under special circumstances. Contact the Eligibility Chair (eligibility@chrva.org) for further guidance. FAQ Date: 11/9/2006 |
What do I do if I registered as an individual and then later decide that I want to play with a team? Your Team Rep must submit a Player Addition Form that will initiate the action to add you to the team roster. If you paid full membership dues, no additional fees are required payable to CHRVA. |
Do I have to pay more membership dues or register for a second time if I am registered with a regular adult team and want to be added to a conglomerate team’s roster? What is the procedure? No. You only have to pay one regular membership dues for the season. With your membership, you are allowed to be placed on no more than two (2) rosters. You may be placed on a regular and conglomerate team or two conglomerate teams of different age groups. |
How much in advance must the team and each individual be registered before participating in a regular-season tournament? Team and individual registrations must be submitted at least 10 days prior to the regular-season tournament or penalties may apply. |
Can my team apply for entry into a regular-season tournament without being registered? Yes. You may contact the appropriate Division Coordinator (http://www.chrva.org/DivCoord/div_coord_pages.html for contact info) and be placed on the mailing list. You may also send in a completed invitation (excluding the registration numbers) for an upcoming tournament. However, you must register at least 10 days prior to the regular-season tournament that you have applied to participate in, and you must update your roster information on the tournament invitation with the Division Coordinator once the registration numbers are obtained from the Registrar. If, for some reason, the registration numbers are not obtained prior to the tournament, the Team Rep MUST provide CURRENT YEAR individual and team registration numbers to the Tournament Director prior to participating in the first match. What are the differences between the various levels of play? Many individuals are interested in joining the Chesapeake Region Volleyball Association (CHRVA) because it offers the opportunity to compete at much higher levels of play than local recreational or county leagues. CHRVA supports competition at the B, BB, A, and AA levels. There is a huge difference between the skills required to compete at the B level versus those required to compete at the AA level. In addition, the entire range of levels (B through AA) varies greatly amongst the nation's Regional Volleyball Associations (RVA). While there are no absolute criteria for determining which level is right for any particular person, potential members can get an idea of where they might fit in by reading the Guidance for New Players. The next logical step is to take a look at some of the teams competing at the various levels. The Tournament Schedules Page lists tournament dates, levels, and locations (with site directions). Select a tournament at a convenient location and stop by to do some comparative shopping. |

Fellowships |
Where can I find information on Fellowship Tournaments? Fellowships are practice tournaments held prior to the start of the Regular Season. The time periods associated with the various phases of the CHRVA indoor season are specified in Section 4.2 of the CHRVA Handbook. The Fellowship Season typically runs from the beginning of October through the end of November. General information on hosting and participating in Fellowship Tournaments can be found throughout Section 4 of the CHRVA Handbook. A schedule of Fellowship tournaments is maintained on the CHRVA Website. The schedule link along with other important fellowship-related links can be found in the Pre-Season section. For additional information on important Pre-Season activities for current and past years, please look at the Pre-Season Links Archive. The schedule page also specifies Fellowship location, the point of contact for entering the tournament, and directions to the site, if available. |
What is the cost of participating in a Fellowship Tournament? There are no playoffs associated with running a Fellowship Tournament. This factor, along with others, results in the cost of a Fellowship Tournament being much less than that of a Regular Season Tournament. The Fellowship Tournament Cost for the current season is expected to be approximately: $90 to $100 See the Fellowship Invitation links on the Fellowship Schedule page for the exact cost of specific fellowship tournaments. How do I enter an Adult team in tournaments? Once an Adult team is registered with the region, the team contact will be sent tournament invitations by the appropriate Division Coordinator. It is the team contact's responsibility to return the invitation along with a check covering the entry fee (and any additional referee and scorekeeper fees that may apply) to their Division Coordinator. The Division Coordinator keeps track of the teams within their division and maintains a 'next-to-play' prioritizing list to provide all teams with an equal opportunity to play. If a team's priority allows them to play in a requested tournament, the team contact is sent confirmation of their entrance into that tournament. FAQ Date:

According to the Tournament Chair (tournament.chair@chrva.org), teams should expect to pay somewhere around $170 per tournament. In addition, you will have to add $50.00 if your team cannot provide a player-referee for the tournament and $20.00 per work match if your team cannot provide a scorekeeper. The message here is "encourage your team members to become Scorekeepers and Referees". Revised: 2/14/2008 |
